Kilcoo Framed Print
Description
A framed map of the civil parish of Kilcoo and all its townlands.
A thoughtful keepsake for anyone who feels a connection to Kilcoo, near or far.
About Kilcoo
Kilcoo is both a small village and a civil parish between Rathfriland and Castlewellan, with 21 mapped townlands across about 18,216 acres. The old church stood in Ballymoney beside the River Muddock, and the parish’s church history was long tangled with Kilkeel and the dioceses of Down and Dromore.
About Civil Parishes
Civil parishes are based on medieval ecclesiastical parishes, then became civil land units used for records, mapping, taxation and local reference. They do not necessarily match modern church parishes, but they remain useful for reading older documents and understanding townland groupings.
