About County Derry
County Derry is a county in Ulster. Its Irish name is Doire, meaning oak wood, grove, or thicket. The county-name derivation is also given as oak wood, from Daire Coluimb Chille, “The Oak-wood of Saint Columba”, with an earlier form Daire Calgaich.
