About Iveagh Upper, Lower Half

Iveagh Upper, Lower Half is a substantial historic barony division in County Down, covering about 96,369 acres. The name Iveagh comes from Uíbh Eachach, “descendants of Echu”, linked with the Uí Echach of the Ulaid. The older Iveagh barony once stretched from Lough Neagh to Rostrevor and from Poyntzpass to Newcastle before its later administrative subdivision.
